I'd lean towards picking up my copies now. This would put the slowlands solidly in the second tier of lands for Commander play alongside the Triomes from Ikoria and the Commander Legends/ Battlebond dual lands (the shocklands are all alone in the top tier showing up in around 50% of decks). While this is partly because the lands are staples in Standard, they are quickly developing into favorites in Commander as well, showing up in nearly 30% of decks according to EDHRec. If you need a copy, your best bet is to wait a bit for it to drop again after the initial hype surrounding the Secret Lair drop dies down.įinally in Standard, the slowlands from Innistrad: Crimson Vow ticked up between 10% and 28% this week. If there's good news, it's that Frenetic Efreet jumped all the way up to $80 a few months ago when Yusri, Fortune's Flame was release in Modern Horizons 2 and was back down to $15 before the Secret Lair announcement. Frenetic Efreet might be the single best upgrade for the deck since its archaic wording allows you to flip an infinite number of coins by activating Frenetic Efreet a bunch of times in response to itself. The Mirage rare is on the Reserved List which makes it an easy target for financial shenanigans, although there is a more important reason for the price increase: A few days ago Wizards announced a full Commander deck coming as a Secret Lair drop which happens to be a coin-flip deck with Okaun, Eye of Chaos and Zndrsplt, Eye of Wisdom as the face Commanders. Speaking of Commander-focused buyouts, Frenetic Efreet jumped from $15 to $40 this week. This isn't the first time the series has cause a price spike and it's unlikely to be the last. The price should trend back down as the hype wears off, but the real lesson here is that you should probably pay attention to cards featured on Game Knights. Drogskol Reaver showed up in one of the decks featured on Game Knights this week, which in turn lead to a bunch of people picking up copies and the price increasing. So why is this mostly unplayed Spirit nearing $20? The Game Knights effect. Drogskol Reaver only shows up in 1% of Commander decks according to EDHRec, and while Innistrad: Crimson Vow does have a UW Spirit theme, it's not even all that popular in Millicent, Restless Revenant decks, only being played about 30% of the time. One of the biggest winners in the world of finance this week was Drogskol Reaver, climbing more than 200% to $17.
